“Vestal Virgin of not quite 12 hours”

2

2011… we have decided to kick it off with something a little different. Of course we will have the VVC  Classic, to be hheld in August 2011 but we are kicking off the year with the ‘VVC – of not quite 12 hours’. Run as a sequential series, you can be in the running for the overall ‘Mostest Laps Ever’ awards if you enter all. As with all our events, places are capped at 150 riders per event, so don’t be thinking you can leave it to the last minute, especially as we’ll be opening entries silly early….

Hurry Up, don’t be late…

That’s right, hurry up and don’t be (too) late.

We offer fist grab of places to all our events to those on our direct mailing list. That means if you are not on it, you might miss out because we do not advertise our events, we cap the numbers to 150 odd and word of mouth has seen us fill our events.

Who?

What sort of rider is the VVC for? The first timer, the casual rider, the sort of rider that likes to come for a good time and a good ride, the fast rider that rides fast with a smile on their face and a beer in their tent.

Who’s it not for? The super competitive lap/time counter, the type of rider that hates it when slower riders get in their way, the rider that has a team feeding them as they go and asking for lap counts every five minutes. The rider that gets uptight when the dude on the singlespeed passes them.

Where?

Where you ask is this fest of riding joy? Simple – at the Awaba Mountain Bike Park, located 1.2 hours north of Sydney and just outside New Castle. The Awaba MTB Park has been developed by our even partners in crime = The Hunter Valley Mountain Bike Association, and is the only fully sanctioned, State Forest supported and continually developed MTB park within easy reach of the Sydney basin.

Expect

For those that have attended our events in the past, you know what to expect. For those that have not we can tell you you can expect the unexpected because we have spent several years perfecting the art of being kicked back and having only fun. We promise to deliver you:

Single track… lots of it.

Riders can do laps by not doing the laps!

The ‘Great Council of Lap Counters’ can be bribed for extra laps.

The course has treasure up for grabs that awards laps, cash or prizes.

Riders who bug the timers about how many laps they have done can find themselves loosing laps!

Beer and a sausage sizzle for ever rider. Yep, that’s right, we provide a sausage sizzle (sanga, BBQ onions, sauce and bread) for all entered riders as well as (now traditional) ‘End of Run’ beer – when you call it a day, we throw you a cold one as a reward.

In short the VVC is about turning up and having a good time, nothing more. If you are looking to come to the event with the aim to be all serious, competitive and a hero without a cause, we suggest you look elsewhere!

Twenty Six Inches?

Twenty Six Inches (aka 26inches) started promoting enduros of its own back in 2003, after being involved through other business’ in event sponsorship since 2001. In 2007-2008, our events were run under the name BSI (Bomb Squad Industries), namely the ‘OF’ and later the ’5D’ events. After the forming of the official Pty Ltd company, and something about registering a company with ASIC that had the word ‘Bomb’ in it, we have re-instigated Twenty Six Inches as the mtb enduro concern name.
