Your dream quiver - money is no object

  1. Slowman, you have me intrigued. Why dura Ace for training and Ultegra for racing?

I am going to do more miles training and it lasts longer. Not much difference in shift quality between D/A and Ultegra these days (at least I can't tell the difference), the differences are in weight and durability. The weight issue is a non issue really a couple of 100 grams and if I only use it to race it does not get used much and lasts long enough anyway.

  2. Bumping an old thread...

    1. San Andreas classic (re-issued in carbon or aluminium) with longer wheelbase and lower BB but the same luverly lines. Red, of course.

    2. Merlin Ti SS hardtail for commuting to work

    3. A couple of Steel shitta pub bikes with rack and muddies

    Floats my boat but YMMV

  3. 1: 'San Andreas 20' set up for trail riding.

2: 'Zen II' set up for XC

3: A flat tracker for urban 'gett'n around.

  4. OK, I'll play...
    1. Custom Baum or Thylacine Ti 29er
    2. Siren Song 29 custom softail
    3. Pivot Mach 429
    4. Pinarello Prince
    ... for starters...
I'd also keep my Soma Juice and turn it into a SS commuter/fun bike.
Bikes 1,2 and 3 would have a mix of components depending on the build and intention but the base would include XTR and Chris King as standard.
Bike 4 would be full Campag to enhance the Italian flavour...
I'm in intense negotiations ATM with the bank manager, ie. Mrs B, about a new ride so I may just be able to score one of them...

Well, have converted the SSoma to SS and am currently building a new steed... Looking back at this, the new one which I would consider a 'dream bike' is none of the above...

So now add into the quiver a:

Lenz Sport Leviathan 4.0 with Lefty PBR 130 (converted for 29er use) plus all the trimmings...

  6. Unlike the rest of you greedy bastards, my dream quiver involves the completion of the ultimate bike......

....my new Proflex 856, I get the swingarm back next week and the best bike in the history of mtb will be complete.

Dream all you want but my bike will be the envy of all.

    ----edit----

Oh, and I am also restoring a stunning Proflex 854 just to make everyone relise their quiver is second rate.
