Charter:

Twenty Six Inches  is designed, maintained and hosted by Design Ronin Pty Ltd for the sole purpose to report and document a more mature and philosophical side to life on the bike (especially but not exclusively mountain bikes)  from a broader aspect than the mainstream ‘tabloid’ bike media.

Our Disclaimer:

The opinions, views and ideas expressed in the magazine section (as opposed to the forums) are ours and ours alone. They based on personal opinions and experiences and in no way are influenced by any third party individual, organisation or company. Under no circumstance will we be influenced to report or document a product, place or thing.

The Black List:

The ‘Black List’ is a list of groups, individuals, companies, clubs whoever, that can not be mentioned in name anywhere on 26inches.com. The reason for this is that anyone or anything that has managed to make it to the black list has done so because they have undertaken practices, publicly or otherwise that goes against the good will and free spirit of mountain biking and those who partake in it as an activity.

The black list to date:

CORC, or Canberra Off Road Cyclists: While there are many fine people who participate in this club, there is an unfortunate few, the inner ‘Sekret Kabal’ who take it on themselves to think they can dictate to the rest of us, either directly, through the media or through less than upfront connections with MTBA, the what, how and why of mountain biking within Australia. This extends to the point of indirectly interfering with and even harming, other club’s or private events.

It should also be noted that core members of 26inches.com and close associates have had, at various points in time, run ins with the CORC Kabal over the discovery of less than above board practices undertaken by the CORC Kabal to defame undertakings that they did not agree with. For this reason, 26inches.com will not and does not approve of CORC advertising or promoting any events through its media outlets.

The liability of Twenty Six Inches in the forums:

While Design Ronin Pty Ltd, the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not Design Ronin Pty Ltd the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

Forum Member’s terms of use:

(By becoming a member of the Twenty Six Inches forum, every member agrees to this bit):

Twenty Six Inches has a reputation for being well moderated and well maintained. We enforce our rules through the use of active moderators. Our stance is that we want to provide an open forum with broad and free discussion, undertaken in an ‘adult’ manner. Pretty simple. Anyone is free to join in on any conversation on 26inches.com but we have a few basic rules, that if broken will see the big stick waved at you but if everyone plays by them, all will be happy.

Things you can do aside from posting to the forums:

1. Post any club based event, ie. for NON-PROFIT, in the appropriate section with prior permission.

2. Post a product review, good or bad, as long as you have paid for it and used it within its intended use parameters for a reasonable amount of time.

3. Post a shop/industry review, as long as it’s valid and does not conflict with any of ‘The big no no’s’ below.

4. Personal Message other forum users.

5. Use Twenty Six Inches to organise rides etc.

The big no no’s:

1. No flaming: Flaming, ie. making posts that have no other purpose other than igniting an argument or trashing another person, will see the poster issued with a warning. If it happens again, we will blacklist the user from Twenty Six Inches. Simple.

2. Bashing: We will blacklist any user that outwardly bashes, belittles or insults any other user for any reason. We will not tolerate users who display racial or homophobic views of any sort.

3. Swearing: No swearing please, this is a family forum (well not really but you get the gist).

4. Blatant Product Plugging: We will not tolerate anyone using Twenty Six Inches to covertly (or otherwise) plug their product or for profit event without permission. Do it and that’s the end of you.

5. Use the classifieds section to sell goods or merchandise from a shop of any sort without prior permission from 26inches.com.

6. Use the Personal Message system for abusive or threatening messages of any sort. Doing this will have you immediately banned and if the matter if of a serious enough nature, have your IP address forwarded to the appropriate authorities for further action. Any questions or reports of forum abuse should be sent to the Lounge Management (click on the name above to access the e-mail function)

In short….. You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions.
